My post in the record scores thread gave me the idea for this... I've gotten rid of TONS of stuff over the years and rarely regretted it, but there are a few things I wish I still had.
Mecht Mensch: Acceptance EP; Back when ebay first started you could score crazy stuff for mega cheap... nowadays it's tough to get anything for a good price on there, but stuff used to fly under the radar all the time and go for way less than the going rate because of poorly listed auctions, etc. I scored a beautiful copy of Acceptance for like $30, not really knowing what an insane score that was. Later traded it for an SOA EP on green (which is a REALLY good trade for me, don't get me wrong), but I really wish I had that MM EP back. We've been talking about covering one of the songs from this record in my new band.
I think I have more shirts that I regret getting rid of than records. There have been various points in my life when I decided "I'm an adult, I can't be wearing stupid punk band shirts every day," and got rid of basically everything I had. The thing about records is that there are always more copies out there... shirts are usually a lot rarer, and getting one that fits properly is always a challenging... anyway, I really regret getting rid of these:
Leatherface original Smokey Joe tour shirt: Weirdly, I think I traded this to the same dude who got my Mecht Mensch EP. Anyway, I used to have a huge collection of original Leatherface shirts, and most of them were BUTT UGLY. Most had huge, thick, plastisol prints that made you sweat in a giant square in the shape of the design. Most of them also fit really weird (whatever shirt company they used made their shirts super short and wide) so I never wore them. The exception was the Smokey Joe shirt... 1-color print, tour dates on the back, and the shirt was faded from black into a medium gray and paper thin so it just shaped itself to the contours of your body. Basically, this is the only cool Leatherface t-shirt that exists, and I'm bummed I don't still have it.
Naked Raygun Throb Throb original tour shirt: This was just a cropped version of the Throb Throb artwork in full color on a white t-shirt, no tour dates or anything on the back, but it just fit perfectly. It was an 80s XL, so it fit like a modern medium, and like the Leatherface shirt it was paper thin in the best way possible. I shed a tear every time I think about this bad boy.
I still do have a sweet 1985 tour shirt from the Fall, but I'm currently too fat to wear it. A few summers ago I was swimming every day and weighed about 30 pounds less than I do right now, and even then I felt kind of self-conscious about wearing it because it was so tight. The Fall is another band with some ugly-ass shirt designs so I'm stoked to have this... just wish I could wear it.
