Picked this guy up the other day... awesome snotty, sarcastic early 80s-style HC like no one really makes anymore. I first got introduced to this on one of those "4 7"s on an LP" bootleg comps that also included Mecht Mensch, Clitboys, and Catatonics. Now I have originals of this and Clitboys (which are probably the weakest of the 4), so I need Mecht Mensch (which I had and traded) and Catatonics!

One always springs to the top of my head when "scores" come up...
I grew up in Annapolis, MD. As I was getting into punk and shit in high school I always thought there had never been a punk scene in Annapolis (later I would out from Alex Dimatessa that I was... gravely mistaken, but whatever).
I was an avid thrift shopper at the time and being a burgeoning record collector I was flipping through the Barry Manilow LPs and the R&B 45s. The only record that caught my eye was a kinda fucked up 7" that said Moss Icon on the front. I pulled out the liner notes and the lyrics were sad and weird but i could tell this was probably a cool record. I also noticed a reference to an old school and a main throughfare in Annapolis which piqued my interest even further.
I bought the record for .75 and walked home to google the band. Only then did I realize how hard id just scored haha. One of the coolest things I've ever experienced. Learning about a rad band from your punk backwater hometown and scoring their rare record is a cool thing to happen.
This record rips btw. Moss Icon is very hit or miss, but this record is all hits. "I'm back.." is a stomper.

(later I would out from Alex Dimatessa that I was... gravely mistaken, but whatever). ^I see what ya did there lulz.... Dude, but that's fucking awesome. I LOVE Moss Icon. You mean "I'm Back Sleeping or Fucking or Something"? Is that the Greta Garbo 7"? If so, then that's my favorite one.... Damn you.

Just picked up the last couple of Delta 5 singles that I needed... I just love this band so much. They had such a great, unique vibe, with the bubbly bass lines of Gang of Four, the kind of stark naivete of the Raincoats and the Slits, and the rhythm section has almost Magazine-like chops... they just sound like no one else in history. This is kind of what I hope that No Chodes will sound like eventually. They released a discography CD on Kill Rock Stars I think... you can find it on Spotify, Rdio, etc. By the way, I still need both of their 12" releases on the off chance anyone is holding.

So, I went out last night to check out some records this dude had posted on craigslist. They were $5 each but it seemed like there would be some good classic rock stuff. At that price I was worried they'd be trashed, but they were all in GREAT condition... got a copy of Sabotage (my favorite Sabbath LP) that's nicer than the one I have and a few things for the store, but the gem was this guy: 1st press Gun Club Fire of Love on Ruby Records... perfect condition and FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS!
