Always nice to have one of these... anyway, here's what's on my turntable at the moment:
Electric Wizard: Witchcult Today; I don't think I've ever listened to Electric Wizard before, and Rich from Whatever Brains and I were talking about that fact and he recommended checking this one out. I have to say I love it... great tones on every instrument, and even though the songs are really long the songwriting is really great and moves you forward relentlessly.
Die: S/T 7": So good... just straight up 80s-style HC. My favorite track is "No Vision," a mid-paced stomper in the vein of classics like "Zombie" by Mecht Mensch.
Glue: Demo 7": The riffs on this thing are totally ignorance... just one of those total fist-pumping HC records.
La Misma: S/T 7"; Loved this band's demo, but this 7" is on another level... totally killer melodic guitar playing.
I wouuld have posted bandcamp links where applicable but I don't have time at the moment... other people should though!

Yeah, obviously I knew who EW is and kind of what they do, I just never knew they were so damn good and catchy. I'm stoked that they have a lot of material to go through...

Treepeople- Time Whore: Doug Martsch's (Built To Spill) first band's first record. 1989? Super catchy proto-indie, like all the most aggressive BTS parts (there are a lot hidden between the jammy stuff...really) condensed into one LP. Martsch brings his distinctive guitar playing and vocal style. I love this damn record. A weird cover of Bigmouth Strikes Again.
Raspberry Bulbs- S/T: takes the Nuke York/ Katorga Works / Toxic State sound to a whole nother level. Raw but not in a noisey way, heavy but not in a moshy way. Mid tempo the whole time. Total bootstomper featuring almost surf rocky riffs with black metal tone. Just a really well done record all the way around. If you like Church Whip you will like this. One of my favorites of 2k13.
Criminal Code- No Device: Gothy punk from San Fransisco. Deranged records. Follow up LP from their awesome S/T 7". This band is leading the way stylistically for the death rock bands that are very in vogue currently. They do a great job transitioning between long dirges and quick hard blasts of angular punk. Just came out, go buy it from Daniel, but leave me a copy please!

Forgot one...
Hank Wood & The Hammer Heads- Go Home: Just go listen to it. You will not regret it. One of those "classic as soon as it was pressed" records. If anyone has a copy I'll buy it. I gave mine away... I should probably post about that in the other thread...

Really? I got it for 14$ at Heaven Street when I was in Brooklyn last month. Damn, they must have been selling band copies they got for cheap or something... the wholesale price is more than that everywhere I've seen it, so retail is usually well over $20.

I've been super into Rocketship lately. They were a somewhat obscure indie-pop band from the 90's, with super-catchy songs, grungy guitars, a lo-fi production aesthetic and unhealthy amounts of organ and synth. GingerBeard knows what I'm talkin' about. IMHO, they happen to sound a lot like Antibubbles (maybe that's why I like them so much!), but the funny thing is, I'd never heard them until well after Antibubbles broke up! When I first heard their first album (their magnum opus), I totally had one of those "Holy shit! This is like something I would write!" moments. Someone posted a collection of their singles from 1993-1996 on a blogspot page, so I've been jammin' that a lot. Their most recent album from 2006 (recorded after a long period of semi-activity) is also pretty good, albeit a lot more well-produced and adventurous with respect to bending genres. There's this one song that's set to a beat made out of chopped-up samples of a symphony, and it's disarmingly catchy. Check this band out if you haven't heard them already and you're into twee pop and/or synthesizers, or just if you like really catchy/poppy music in general. EDIT: Where's Scott Williams at? I feel like he would be really into Rocketship.

Trying to listen to the Good Throb (who are coming in April I think?) 7", and Kleenex, but Riff Randall thinks they'd sound better if she did some sweet scratchin'.
