Shades of the NCHCPMF board... Been digging through old photos that I've put up on das book and tumblr -

WHATEVER BRAINS/BIRDS OF AVALON/DOUBLE NEGATIVE at C&C MUSIC FACTORY -
I'll always have the most immense crush on C. Kumar, Daniel and I showed up after WBs and caught half of the BoA set. I remember we were double fisting Dunkin Donuts coffees and Yuenglings. The DN set was partially documented by Chaz -
vimeo.com/3455672 - I so love how Scott encourages Kevin to say, "We want y'all to get down. in the best way you know how. Down in the gutter..." and you can hear Chaz go, "That's where the rats live!" and then they blow into Lookin at the Rats. Matt immediately dove off of the molding on top of the window and took out a bunch of the christmas lights they had strung above the crowd.
CHRONIC SEIZURE/DOUBLE NEGATIVE/LOGIC PROBLEM at Double Down on Peace -
Chronic S were fine, this remains a memory because A) Dave played bass for us, as Daniel was in the UK, and B) it was the first performance of "Saturation Tank". Matt looked at me after they played the first 5 seconds and said, "ARE THEY FUCKIN SERIOUS?" and then Ira lost his mind and backflipped off of a pool table. It was close to being exactly the Chappelle's Show skit with john mayer playing metal riffs. Everyone lost their mind, the e-mail I sent Daniel describing it is a thing of beauty.
GOVERNMENT WARNING/SET TO EXPLODE/XBRANIAX/I have no idea who else @ GSS -
Seth's and my first time in Raleigh proper. I myspace messaged Thrashitorium Presents to find out the address. Daniel would later tell me, "I thought, 'who is that guy in a Regulations shirt?'" - we gave him our drum and guitar demos, and started Logic Problem weeks later. STE was fine, GW played for like an hour and covered everything they possibly could to spite the grind straightedge band. This would result in a letter to MRR about Kenny saying "Fucking homos" when they covered Descendents, and subsequently the GW song "Safe and Sound", replete with a lyric sheet discussing whatever weiner wrote that (sidenote: the descendents are mostly garbage). They also covered Flag, Vile, Adolescents, and everything else they could think of. I remember it getting into a second overtime when brandon broke his kick pedal and asked for another, haha. A beautiful introduction.
SORRY STATE FEST at the Berkeley -
Make Daniel do this again - easily the funnest LP set at the time until we played the tornado show (documented on youtube by D. Mirabedini, search Logic Problem Kent), the first time I met Jeff (and probably Ira). Every band ruled. So much fun.
WASTED TIME/CONDOMINIUM/LOGIC PROBLEM on Method - Total Abuse played at Kent and the cops came, so we moved everything to a house down the street, where the guy put his couch on the lawn and we played in his living room as 10-20 people watched from his kitchenette. Condominium sucked (they are my favorite band at the moment) and borrowed my guitar & amp and complained about treble (not punk). Wasted Time razed the earth. I felt so stoked when Brandon and Eric were moshing to us in general, which topped when we did our shit cover of Scream's "came without warning". Total Abuse were all on psychedelics and were hilarious. Daniel came to the show directly from the airport as he returned from London. Punkest. I rode with the Ferrells in a Ford Focus while they drunk drove, throwing empty Budweiser Selects out of their windows on 40 to get to Daniel's old house in Carrboro as we listened to the Macho Man rap CD. Daniel and Brand-o passed out immediately, while Lauren, Eric, and I competed in a feats of strength in his lawn, vying for a rivalry with Musty's "dead in carrboro" legend.
INVASIÓN/GW/CROSSED EYES/UNDER PRESSURE/? at Double Down on Peace
Invasión were incredible, Kenny from GW broke his wrist punching the ground after their set, the guy from UP soloed with half of a PBR tallboy, Crossed Eyes ripped (and had a different lineup, I think?). There was another band but I cannot find the flyer.
#1.... DOUBLE NEGATIVE (Michaud Volume) / LOGIC PROBLEM at Kent
We were recording Brain Flannel vocals for Sleep Rough at Will's (and Cam's and Evan's) house on Glenwood. I heard a freight train-esque noise and googled "Raleigh weather", and the top result was a tweet that said, "Glenwood ave is about to get fucked in the ass by this tornado". We lost power and walked outside, Cam walked in the street and almost got hit by a mailbox flying horizontally. It died down while we smoked cigarettes, and I opened the back door to see the 20 feet tall roots of a 50 foot oak tree that fell onto the church behind their house. We would have been totally dead if the wind blew the other way. The punks shop-vac'ed Kent so that LP could play with DN, bob's first show as drummer. I was so excited to see him prove everyone that was skeptical wrong, and good fuckin god he did (there was a youtube video, but it's apparently gone...). Flawless set. Daniel looks the most Japanes he ever has (and can always with that svelte scruffy facial hair). Funnest LP set aside from the Berkeley reunion, too - rich ivey tore down the neon lights, black hole moshing, true punk. The sound is shit, but worth watching to see Mike Deloatch landslide the designated mosh area -
www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4TyDUAWoCE#1 (pt 2) SHITTY LIMITS/DOUBLE NEGATIVE/LOGIC PROBLEM/SHARDS at C&C Music Factory
The end of our tour, and best show of tour. I was getting something out of the car as I heard two dudes discuss what songs they wished we would play, I remember exactly "They better fuckin play sterile anxiety, man" - the record wasn't even out but we'd sent it around to our friends - these dudes were Jeff and Ira. Shards murdered with no practice, we had a good set, the limits finally played "In Your Shoes", and DN leveled the fucking earth. Such a shame there is no video of this shit. Favorite part was that Bryony from Good Throb (who was on tour with us) got moshed through the window, leaving an ass-shaped hole. Afterwards, Hank said, "Don't worry. We got a glass guy." These are all from that show:
